Getting Ideas from other employee manual samples
You can use employee manual samples from many state organizations as guides when crafting your own employee handbook.  There are a number of these samples available at sites for Florida State, Tufts University and the U. of South Alabama.

Keep in mind as you review employee manuals online, that "distribution" of your manual is crucial to success.  After you've finished writing your employee manual, you need to distribute it.  While we don't suggest putting your employee manual online (for legal reasons), you should require employees to get a hard copy and sign an "Acknowledgement of Receipt" form that proves they actually received and had time to review the employee manual. If, at a later date, the employee breaks one of the rules or policies, he or she can't claim that they were never aware of it.

If you purchase an employee manual template, make sure it contains an "Acknowledgement of Receipt" form.
